The following quote comes from a newspaper article about the Boardroom Ready Project launched by Trapezia Capital and Association Of Women Travel Executives to help prepare women for entry into the boardroom.

Creating  a Winning Company Growth Strategy from start up to exit.

Successful companies all have a winning set of attributes in place that ensure they stay focused and achieve their goal.

Companies that miss their target usually have something missing. It is our job as Board members to be able to identify that missing link and introduce it into the organization:

  • The characteristics of the person behind the helm – Entrepreneur, Manager or Technician who is running the business? What is the best combination both in the business and on the Board?
  • The processes and systems that need to be in place – A check list for future reference.
  • The problems that arise in periods of expansion when people don’t understand what is happening.
  • Starting with the end in mind – how to plan from the end point.
  • How to capture the innovative ideas that make millions for companies – a business tool which ensures that creativity and innovation are turned into financial gain.

“Research shows companies with more women in the boardroom have higher financial outputs. There is a clear business case for having a significant number of women – and not just token woman – in non-executive director roles.” says Patel.

Looking at the number of woman who serve on the boards of companies is also interesting. Cranford University conducts an annual count of woman on the boards of Ftse 100 companies. In 1999, females made up 6.9% of all directorships. In the last decade this has increased to 11.7%.

“Two years ago frustrated because I could find few female role models I worked closely with other Entrepreneurs and experts in the field of female Entrepreneurship and set up an Initiative called Raising The Bar it was to attract female Entrepreneurs to come together and learn from one another as well as the experts. I have rarely known something to be so passionately supported and after a workshop and evening dinner which attracted 80 people I returned to my office the next day to flowers presents books letters and so much more in the way of thanks . Women want to be supported and I am looking forward to doing just that”
